Non-carcinogenic
A study showed that there were no increases in risk of onset of cancer for users or workers for the production of stone wool. This fact is supported by the decision of the World Health Organisation's International Agency for Research (IARC) to exempt stone wool from its list of "possibly cancer causing agents". The conclusion was based on the fact that epidemiological studies provide no evidence of an increased risk of lung cancer from occupational exposure to stone wool fibres.
CFC and HCFC free
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) and Hydrofluorocarbons (HCFC) which can cause damage to the ozone layer in the atmosphere are not used in the manufacturing of Roxul stone wool products.
Chemically inert
Roxul stone wool does not attack or damage other materials with which it comes into contact with and neither does it corrode metal. An aqueous extract of the product is neutral or slightly alkaline.
